Terms of Service

Effective date: 1 April 2026 · Last updated: 1 April 2026 · Version: 1.0
These terms are a working template under legal review. Final wording will be confirmed by counsel before public app store launch.

1. What Instaday is

Instaday is a news synthesis service. It aggregates publicly available reporting from a curated whitelist of publishers, and uses automated systems to organise that reporting into Veracity Maps that show distinct narrative angles around a topic.

Instaday is not a fact-checker, a publisher, a moderator of third-party content, or a primary source of news. We are a synthesis layer over public information that already exists.

2. Who can use Instaday

3. Your account

Instaday currently operates without user accounts during MVP. You can use the app as a guest. If we add accounts in the future, this section will describe registration, authentication, and account-related obligations.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

5. Intellectual property

The Instaday app, branding, source code, and the design of the Veracity Map system are owned by the Instaday team. The original news fragments we aggregate remain the property of their respective publishers — we display them under fair-use / fair-dealing principles for the purpose of news synthesis and link directly to the source for full reading.

Veracity Maps generated for your search are made available to you under a permissive licence: you may share them with attribution to Instaday and a link back to the source publishers.

6. Voluntary supporter subscription

Instaday offers an optional paid Supporter tier via Apple App Store and Google Play. The Supporter tier does not unlock any features — all functionality remains free for everyone. Supporter is a voluntary contribution to keep Instaday running without advertising or data sales.

Subscriptions are managed by Apple or Google, not by Instaday. Cancellation, refunds, and renewal are handled through your platform store account.

7. Disclaimers

Instaday is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee:

You should always verify important claims by reading the original sources we link to.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Instaday is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits or revenue, whether incurred directly or indirectly. Mandatory consumer rights under EU law are unaffected.

9. Notice and action (DSA Article 14)

If you believe content displayed in Instaday is illegal, you can submit a notice via the in-app notice flow or by emailing notice@instaday.app. We aim to respond within 48 hours and publish aggregate handling statistics in our monthly transparency report.

10. Changes to the service

We may evolve Instaday, including adding, removing, or modifying features. Material changes that affect your rights will be communicated in advance through the app and via this page.

11. Termination

You may stop using Instaday at any time and delete all locally stored data via Settings → Delete my account. We may suspend or terminate access for users who violate these terms.

12. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the law of the EU member state where the Instaday legal entity is registered, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection laws applicable in your country of residence. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that member state, again without prejudice to consumer protection forum rules.
